Answers Still Matter | Amelia Hausia
Amelia Toa Hausia was 18 years old when she disappeared from her family home in Downer on 17 December 1992.
The night before, Amelia had attended her Year 12 formal. She returned home in the early hours of the morning and left a note for her family, saying she was going out to clear her head and would call later.
That call never came.
The last reported sighting of Amelia was at Woden Plaza on 22 December 1992. While there have been numerous reported sightings over the years, none have been positively confirmed, and Amelia has not been in contact with family or friends since her disappearance.
As part of National Missing Persons Week, ACT Policing is sharing Amelia’s story through a portrait painted by local artist Harriet Mitchell. The portrait, along with two other ACT long-term missing teenagers, is displayed at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre to help keep their stories visible in the community and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
