There’s a total mobile device ban for L and P plate drivers in the ACT to stop younger drivers from getting distracted. This includes using Bluetooth hands-free or speaker to interact with your phone as well as directly using your phone.

GPS enabled devices can be used, provided that the device isn’t being held by the driver and is programmed before the trip starts so that it requires no interaction during travel.

Put your phone into Do Not Disturb mode to remove the temptation to touch your phone while driving.
